【Lutian Temple Rhyme Center Hall|Dancing Ink Dragons in the Golden Age of Tang Dynasty】
This scroll inherits the spirit of Cang Zhen's "Sudden Rain Tornado" brushwork, its powerful momentum reminiscent of the thunder-infused xuan paper of "Zi Xu Tie" (Autobiography). Its rounded lines evoke Zhang Xu's "Four Ancient Poems," creating the pinnacle of cursive script. Yanxi Xuan's secret formula, crafted through nine periods of drunkenness and eight periods of madness, blends pine smoke with wine, evoking the principle of "intoxication, attaining the true nature" in "Huai Su Biography." The imitation craftsmanship reaches the exacting standards of "Zen-madness study," with each stroke tempered by half a century of wine-drinking Zen. Compared to more common cursive calligraphy copies, this scroll reveals a distinctly Tang Dynasty lineage. Beyond a mere resemblance in form, it represents a connoisseur's masterpiece, a fusion of Buddhist emptiness and the unbridled Zen of brush and ink. It offers a glimpse into the true essence of the drunken monk in the vein of "Kusun Tie" (Bitter Bamboo Shoots).
