[Four Screens of Flowers and Birds in Hanting | Lingying Pozhu Haipai Spirit]
This painting embodies the essence of Master Difang's "boneless and fused color" brushwork. The bird's feathers are fluffy, reminiscent of Song Dynasty silk paintings, yet they radiate warmth through the paper. The graceful branches of flowers inherit Nantian's elegant style while creating a distinct Shanghai aesthetic. The Xuan paper has been subjected to the ancient method of eight-heating and nine-alum-glue treatments, and the rosy crimson dot-coloring evokes the principle of "no empty brushstrokes" in the "Han Ting Bird Album." The meticulous craftsmanship of this imitation, "drawing inspiration from the past and creating something new," is meticulously refined, each brushstroke imbued with the exquisite artistry of the Shanghai School of Sketching. Compared to conventional bird and flower reproductions, this work embodies the rich cultural heritage of Shanghai. Beyond the vividness of the feathers and plants, it truly embodies the connoisseur's spirit, blending the cool elegance of Xugu and the unrestrained elegance of Ren Bonian. This is a rare and vivid example of the aesthetic system of "Hundred Birds and Hundred Flowers."
