[Nangong Ink Play Four-panel Screen | Brushstrokes blend with the elegant rhyme of the Jin Dynasty]
This set captures the essence of Xiangyang's "Wind-blown Masts" style. Its powerful and unstoppable momentum resembles the rich, vibrant Zhuan script found on Xuan paper in "Yanshan Inscription." Its bold and daring character formations draw inspiration from Wang Xianzhi's "Duck Head Ball," creating a realm of exquisite brushwork. Specially crafted Xuan paper undergoes seven soakings and six sharpenings, creating a unique blend of pine soot and vermilion, echoing the motto of "contentment and self-sufficiency" in the "Baojin Yingguang Collection." The imitation technique reaches the exacting standards of "Zhanma Study Level," with each piece undergoing 25 years of meticulous stone-refining. Compared to more common calligraphy, this work demonstrates a distinct connection to the Two Wangs. Beyond a passing resemblance in form, it represents a true fusion of the artistic spirit of the Song dynasty and the spirit of the Jin and Tang dynasties. This contemporary artist can savor the true meaning of Nangong's "Poems of Duojing Tower."
