[Shoumin Yige|Replica of a Ming Dynasty treasure]
This work captures the solitary and aloof style of the "loyalist" painters of the Ming dynasty, seamlessly blending the ethereal elegance of Ni Zan and the vigorous clarity of Zhao Mengjian. Crafted from specially selected Song-style double-silk, it has been treated using the secret technique of eight alums and eleven dyes, resulting in a rich, mellow ink resembling frost on a cold spring. The drapery's folds allude to the profound "folded reeds" technique of "Autumn River Farewell." This imitation, reaching the standard of Xuzhou study, reveals the integrity of Ming loyalist painters above and beyond the ordinary. Beyond mere resemblance, this is a treasured treasure that recaptures the spirit of the literati of the period of political change, a rare contemporary example of this youthful style.
