[Shining Rongyi|Qing Palace Chinese and Western Reproductions]
These four panels embody the essence of Lang's "Western Realism," seamlessly blending the subtle rhythms of perspective, light, and shadow with imperial line drawing. Selected imperial jade panels have been treated using the ancient method of nine-alum and eight-dyeing, resulting in vibrant colors reminiscent of enamel, while the sfumato-like layering alludes to the "focusing technique" of the Qianlong Review. These reproductions, reaching the standard of "Ruyi Pavilion Master Class," demonstrate the ultimate integration of Eastern and Western influences in the Qing court, surpassing even ordinary figures. Beyond mere resemblance, they recreate a treasured collection of the flourishing artistic exchange during the Kangxi and Qianlong eras, a rare example of Lang's style.
